The Out West Basketball Association has completed its recruitment of some of the top university players from the four western Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia who will make up the 2005 Canada Out West Elite
Team. The Team will function from July 2 to late August. Team members who play in nine different post secondary programs will reside and train in Calgary at the Mount Royal College athletic facilities centre. The Out West Team will compete in Canada, California, and Europe. This is the second season for the Elite program. The 2005 squad has been announced. See

Head Coach - Cory Russell
Coach Russell of Calgary began his coaching career in the U.S. as Assistant Coach at Stanford University and the University of California at Santa Barbara. He then was employed as a scout for the Chicago Bulls and subsequently served as Head Coach of the Calgary 88’s (WBL) and the San Jose Jammers (Continental Basketball Association). Coach Russell further served as Assistant Coach at the University of San Francisco, and Head Coach of the University of Calgary Dinos.
Assistant Coach - Mark Hogan
Mark Hogan has years of experience in sports management and as a coach. Mr. Hogan played for the Brandon University Bobcats and went on to coach at the high school, college, and university levels. He founded the STARS basketball program which has become a national success with nearly 10,000 annual participants. He was the Director of Public Relations with the Calgary Outlaws professional basketball team. Mr. Hogan was a key developer of club basketball in Calgary and has been instrumental in the development of female athletes who have gone on to play in Canadian and U.S. college and university programs.
Guest Coach - Kelly Boucher
Coach Boucher of Calgary has achieved excellence in women’s basketball and was the first Canadian to play
in the WNBA (Charlotte Sting). She was born in Calgary and is a former All-Canadian with the University of Victoria. Coach Boucher continued her stellar career by playing for the Canadian National Team and professionally in Europe, the Middle East, and in the U.S. Kelly was an Assistant Coach in the 2004 Out West season.
